Mission The Colorado School of Mines SEG Student Chapter, (Mines SEG Student Chapter) is dedicated to advancing student knowledge and professional development in the field of economic geology. We aim to build a strong, supportive community that connects students with industry leaders, provides hands-on field experiences, and fosters cutting-edge research in mineral exploration. Through education, networking, and mentorship, we strive to inspire the next generation of geoscientists to contribute to the responsible discovery and development of mineral resources globally.
Membership BenefitsAs an active SEG student chapter, the Colorado School of Mines SEG Student Chapter offers members a wealth of benefits that foster both professional and academic growth. Members gain access to exclusive lectures and short courses hosted by top researchers and industry professionals in economic geology. The chapter also organizes field trips to mining operations and geologically significant sites, offering hands-on experience in real-world settings. Career development is supported through resume workshops, mock interviews, and networking events, while leadership opportunities within the chapter allow students to grow their organizational and mentoring skills. Furthermore, if a student holds an active membership with the official SEG, members are eligible for SEG-sponsored scholarships, travel grants, and research funding, with opportunities to publish and present research at conferences.
